Rust Is Most Common Corrosion-Rust Treatment

Due to the reaction with the surrounding the corrosion occurs. Corrosion simply destructs the metal Corrosion mainly occurs when there is electrochemical or simply chemical reaction. To define it more precisely the corrosion is the loss of electron of the metal when it reacts with water. Atoms from the Iron metal oxidize which lead to electro-chemical corrosion.

Rust is the most popular corrosion and it is also a household problem. Rust is mainly a residue which is left then the moisture in the metal gets reacted with oxygen. This residue is known as hydrated ferric oxide. Water and iron reacts more quickly if salts are added. Salt helps in additional oxidation as it allow oxygen access to the iron more. If this continues then the iron will be transformed into ferric oxide or solid rust. If prevention is not taken then rust can damage the entire metal. We should try to keep the metal dry as much as possible. There are also rust products which act as a rust remover from metals.

Amount of rust or corrosion depends upon the metal’s affinity with oxygen. For example iron has more affinity towards oxygen so its get rusted easily. Moreover metals like gold, platinum has low affinity towards oxygen so its hardly get rusted.

The electrochemical reactions that occur during corrosion are based on various factors like mechanical, geometrical, environmental and many other factors. They can lead to one form of assault.

Now a days a small chemical compound is mixed with the metal or alloy which act as corrosion inhibitor. It helps in avoiding corrosion.
