Timeshare Industry – Born of a new Era

In the early 60s one slogan became very famous, “Why to rent a house when you can be a owner of a Hotel”. These slogans were of the French Alps Hotelier and that gives birth to new holiday industry own as Timeshare Industry. In no time the timeshare industry became very famous.

Nowadays there are 5400 resorts in more than 100 countries. The timeshare sales is better organized and maintained by Organization for Timeshare in Europe (OTE) and American Resort Development Association (ARDA).

Sheraton, Four Seasons Radisson, Hilton, Disney World Resorts and Hyatt are some popular names in having multi-billion dollars in timeshare industry. They have made the timeshare industry more easily available to the people as they made the contracts in timeshare easier than the old ones. Thus they have done a timeshare rescue for the people.

The concept was superb. Each buyer will be the owner of some part of the hotel for some weeks and can enjoy vacation there pretending that the property is their. While their stay they also have to pay a maintenance fee except that no other headache is there.

This brilliant concept was soon followed by Hapimag, a Swiss company who brought timeshare there for the first time. People became owners of their resorts in Italy, Spain, Switzerland in no time for some weeks. These concepts became very popular there and Hapimag is one of the leading companies in timeshare industry.

After Swiss it’s the turn of United States. In 1969 timeshare industry started there with Kauai Kailani resort. It was given on 40 years lease basis. The timeshare plan here was more flexible than the earlier ones.

With growing popularity of the timeshare the demand of the people for more flexible timeshare was increasing. So in 1974 Resort Condominiums International (RCI) was developed fulfilling the demand of the people.

In 80s and 90s Europe took the timeshare market in the first gear and the companies involving the timeshare started earning in million dollars.
